Mango collection activities will commence in the district from May 20 this year.
This was decided at a meeting on ‘mango collection and marketing’ in the conference room of the Natore Deputy Commissioner’s office.
From that date, the mango farmers will be able to collect the local varieties grown in their orchards, including Gopalbhog.
Natore DC Mohammad Shahriar, deputy director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE)Subrata Kumar Sarker, deputy director of Horticulture Centre Mahmudul Faruk, and mango traders were present in the meeting.
It was also revealed that the DAE expects the orchards in Natore to produce 80,000 metric tons of mangoes, over a combined area of 5,519 hectares.
