Former senior secretary of the Financial Institutions Division Md Eunusur Rahman has been elected new chairman of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) for the next three years.
He was unanimously elected among the seven independent directors in a board meeting on Monday under the demutualisation law of the organisation.
The other independent directors are Dhaka University Professor Dr Md Masudur Rahman, Brigadier General Md Mostafizur Rahman, former Additional Secretary Salma Nasreen, senior Vice-president of FBCCI Md Muntakim Ashraf, former Director of Investment Corporation of Bangladesh Habibullah Bahar and Buet Professor Dr AKM Masud.
Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission approved the appointment of new independent directors from a list proposed by the DSE.
On February 11, DSE Chairman Dr Abul Hashem concluded his three-year tenure.
