Mirza Mehedi Tamal of Bangladesh Pratidin and MM Badsha of Bangla TV have been elected as president and general secretary, respectively, of the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) for 2025.
The election was held on Friday at the Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital’s Segunbagicha, where voting took place from 9 am to 4:30 pm.
Mehedi Tamal secured 128 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Mahbub Alam Lablu of Jugantor, who bagged 95 votes. Sarwar Alam of Desh Rupantor received 49 votes, while Asaduzzaman Biku of Dainik Purbokone got 12 votes.
The results were announced in the evening by Election Committee Chairman Abu Taher, a senior journalist. Senior member of the association, Ahmad Atiq, served as the election committee's member secretary.
MM Badsha was elected general secretary with 181 votes, while his closest competitor, SM Nuruzzaman, garnered 104 votes.
For the vice president post, Umar Faruq Alhadi won with 159 votes, defeating Mizanur Rahman (Masum Mizan), who received 120 votes.
