Farzana Yasmin, a teacher at Milestone School and College, who sustained injuries in the recent jet crash incident, has been discharged from the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS), officials confirmed Wednesday.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Nashir Uddin, director of NIBPS, shared the update at a press briefing held at the institute.
He said that while Yasmin’s condition had improved enough for her to leave the hospital, two other patients remain in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
As of Wednesday, a total of 32 patients remain admitted at the institute, 27 of whom are children. Among them, three are in critical condition, while seven are classified under the severe category. The rest are being treated in general wards and cabins.
“There were three patients in the ICU as of Tuesday. One has now been shifted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) due to improvement in condition,” said Dr. Nashir.
He added that no new fatalities have been reported in the past three days. The medical team has so far conducted 158 surgeries—both major and minor—on the victims, many undergoing multiple procedures.
Dr. Nashir also announced that the institute will no longer hold daily briefings on the subject. “From now on, updates will be issued through official press releases,” he said.
