President Mohammed Sahabuddin  on Monday started his journey as the resident of  Bangabhaban.

He also attended his office for the first time by signing some important files in the evening.

The 22nd President replaced the outgoing President Abdul Hamid through oath-taking ceremony at the historic Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban on Monday morning.

The President went to his Gulshan residence after the swearing-in ceremony. Meanwhile, after the farewell reception, Abdul Hamid left for his Nikunja residence in Dhaka.

President Sahabuddin's family members, including wife Dr Rebecca Sultana and son Arshad Adnan Roni, arrived at Bangabhaban at 08:50 pm in a motorcade procession from Gulshan residence.

Earlier, on arrival of the President at Bangabhaban, a smart contingent of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) welcomed him at the main gate.

From there, they took them to the main building’s gate where President Sahabuddin was greeted with flowers by the officials and employees of Bangabhaban.

Senior military and civil officials of the President's Office  were also present.

As part of the ceremony, the President will be given a guard of honour by the PGR  at 10:30 am on Tuesday.

He will pay tribute to the martyrs at the Savar  National Memorial Mausoleum at 11:38 am. He will also sign there a visitors' book while he will place wreath at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman  in front of Bangabandu Bhaban of Dhanmondi at noon.

Later, he will place wreath at the Central Shaheed Minar.
