Monirul Islam, special public prosecutor of Additional District and Session’s Judge Court, said MP Rana was produced before the court from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur around 10:30 amid tight security.
Later, defence lawyer Advocate Rafiqul Islam quizzed him for 25 minutes.
The defence also filed a petition seeking time for cross-examining the MP further, mentioning that their senior lawyers were sick.
Judge Maksuda Khanam granted the time petition and fixed September 20 for the next hearing.
Eight out of total 17 accused were produced before the court today.
Aminur Rahman Khan Bappy was gunned down and hacked to death in front of his residence in Tangail district town in the evening of November 21, 2003.
Later, his father Ataur Rahman Khan filed a case on November 23 with Tangail Sadar Police Station.
