Natore, Aug 30 (UNB) – A court here on Thursday sent the driver and helper of 'Challenger Paribahan' bus to jail in a case filed over the killing of 15 people in a road accident in Lalpur upazila of the district.
Judicial Magistrate Sultan Mahmud passed the order after sub-inspector of Banpara Highway Police Station Tariqul Islam, also the investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced them before his court seeking a five-day remand.
The court also fixed September 5 for hearing the remand petition.
Earlier, Detective Branch of police handed over driver Shamim Hossain and helper Abdus Salam Kamol to Natore highway police.
At least 15 people were killed and 15 others injured when the Bogura-bound bus of ‘Challenger Paribahan’ from Pabna hit a human-hauler carrying 15 passengers in Lalpur upazila on August 25.
A case was filed against seven people over the fatal road accident.
