The members of the Navy are alerting the fishermen, who are fishing by small and large trawlers and fishing boats, through loudspeaker.
Besides, they are also providing advice and guidance on awareness issues among their (fishermen) families, said Assistant Director of ISPR Reza-ul- Karim Shammi.
Masks and disinfectant soap are being provided among the fishermen to ensure their safety. Moreover, various relief materials, including rice, pulses, are being also provided to the poor and destitute people to cope with the situation following coronavirus, he said.
Navy ships--BNS Bangabandhu and BNS Nirmul are deployed in the sea area of Saint Martin, BNS Nirbhoy in Coxs Bazar, BNS Saikat in Kutubdia, BNS Padma in Pathorghata, LCT-104 in Barguna, LCU-03 in Bhasanchar, Dholeshowry in Paira port Tista in Chandpur, for the awareness of fishermen.
It is important to note that the contingents of the Navy have been deployed in sea and coastal areas “in aid to civil Power” to prevent coronavirus outbreak following government instruction from March 25.
Awareness activities of the Navy will be continued until improvement of the overall situation of the country.
