Besides, several nurses and assistants of his clinic have also been infected with the virus in tests conducted at the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) in Dhaka, Dr Shahnewaz told UNB.
All of them were taken to Kurmitola General Hospital in Dhaka for treatment, he said.
They might have been infected while treating coronavirus-infected patients at his Poly Clinic, said Dr Shahnewaz, also president of Narayanganj Private Clinic Owners’ Association.
His daughter and son-in-law are also physicians.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh on Sunday recorded the highest number of coronavirus cases in a single day as 139 more people tested positive for the virus, raising the total number to 621.
Besides, four more people died from the virus during the period which has raised the total death toll to 34.
