Law Minister contracts Covid-19
Law Minister Anisul Haque has tested positive for Covid-19, says an official of the ministry on Saturday.
He tested positive on Thursday and has been taking treatment at home, the official said.
The law minister is now doing fine and his body temperature remains normal with light coughing.

Govt primary school shut after all teachers test Covid-19 positive in Cumilla
Authorities indefinitely shut down a government primary school in Laksam upazila of Cumilla district on Tuesday after its all eight teachers tested Covid-19 positive.
The teachers, including the headmaster, were from Paschimgaon Government Model Primary School in Laksam municipality.
Abdullah Al Mamun, upazila education officer told UNB the school was ordered to close at 12 pm on Tuesday after being informed by the teachers. “It will remain shut until further notice,” he said.

The Covid infected teachers are headmaster Shampa Rani Saha, assistant teacher Md Shah Alam, Md Ekramul Haque Khondoker, Montu Chandra Cghosh, Umme Kulsum, Bilkis Nsarin, Kamrunnahar and Rubina Islam.
Shampa Rani said she and another teacher were on leave Saturday due to fever while on Sunday two more teachers reported being sick.
On Tuesday my husband and my samples came out Covid-19 positive. Later samples of the other teachers in the school were sent to the upazila health complex.
After all of them tested Covid-19 positive, the upazila education officer was informed about the matter.

Around 600 students are currently enrolled in the Paschimgaon Government Model Primary School.
It was not immediately known if any of the students has been affected.

Top Rajshahi officials test positive for Covid-19
Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi GSM Zafarullah and Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil have tested positive for Covid 19, officials said on Monday.
Assistant commissioner of Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner office, Abhijit Sarkar, said Zafarullah gave samples at a local hospital for Covid test to join the January 18-20 DC conference in Dhaka.
DC Jalil was found infected with Covid-19 on the same day, said Additional Deputy Commissioner Kalyan Chowdhury.

Both of them were in isolation in their respective residence.
Earlier, Rajshahi city Mayor AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Rajshahi-3 constituency MP Ayen Uddin, Rajshahi-4 constituency MP Enamul Haque also contracted the virus.

Chuadanga cattle trader 'commits suicide' over Covid stigma
A 50-year-old cattle trader, who tested Covid-19 positive four days ago, reportedly committed suicide by hanging after being subjected to social stigma.
Police identified the deceased as Abdur Razzaque, of Chuadanga's Alamdanga upazila, who was found hanging at his residence Sunday morning.
When asked about the likely trigger behind the suicide, Alamdanga Police Station Officer-in-Charge Alamgir Kabir said, "Razzaque had been suffering from Covid-19 symptoms and tested positive on June 16. After that, he was undergoing isolation at home following the advice of the doctors."

"I heard my husband coughing in the morning. I went to his room to serve him breakfast but found that he ended his life by hanging," Moyna Khatun, wife of the deceased, said.
"On June 17, the local administration hoisted a red flag on Razzaque's residence and put it under lockdown. Next, the locals started to harass and humiliate Razzaque," Aminul Haque Rokon, chairman of Alamdanga's Jehala union parishad, said.

"The locals did not allow us to leave the house – even to shop for groceries," Moyna said.

Covid-19 hits IPL: Two KKR players test positive
Despite ensuring a so-called tightest bio-bubble to avoid Coronavirus infection, two players of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been tested positive for Covid-19.
And as a result, the clash between and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) which was scheduled to take place on Monday, has been postponed.

The IPL authority has conducted four Covid-19 tests for the players of KKR in the last four days. In the last test, Varun Chakaravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were found to be positive, confirmed an IPL press release.
Both the players are now isolated from the rest of the members of the team. After this incident, the KKR authority took initiative to test all the members every day to find out if anyone else is infected with the deadly virus.
The IPL medical team is working to determine the close and casual contacts of those two players in an endeavour to avoid further health issues. This is the first instance of a Covid-19 positive case related to IPL.

Doctors prescribe new medicine for Khaleda
The medical team of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Friday added a new medicine to her treatment for coronavirus infection after reviewing the final report of her CT scan test, said BNP Vice Chairman Dr AZM Zahid Hossain.
Talking to UNB, he said they received the final report of the BNP chief’s CT scan late last night.
“The medical team members, including the local and international specialists, reviewed the report and added a new medicine to her previous prescription,” said Zahid, also a member of the team.
He said they have kept Khaleda under close observation at her Gulshan residence as she entered the second week of infection.

The physician said BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman’s wife Dr Zubaida Rahman has been supervising the treatment process of her mother-in-law from London.
As per the CT scan final report, he said Khaleda’s infection is nominal and insignificant. “Madam’s condition is still stable.”
He said Khaleda urged people to pray for her speedy recovery.
Khaleda underwent an HRCT scan test at Evercare Hospital on Thursday night.
The BNP chief underwent the Covid test on Saturday last as eight other people at her residence were infected with the virus and her report came out positive.

Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the government released Khaleda Zia from jail for six months through an executive order suspending her sentences on March 25 last year. Later, the government extended her release twice.”

Abul Hayat tests positive for Covid-19
Prominent Bangladeshi actor Abul Hayat has tested positive for Covid-19.
His daughter Natasha Hayat on Thursday evening confirmed the news in her Facebook post.
‘Abbu, unfortunately, tested positive for Covid-19 and had to be hospitalized last night with mild symptoms,’ Natasha’s Facebook status said.

Abul Hayat is currently stable and under observation of the doctors, she confirmed.
