In a press conference held on Tuesday night at Rajarbagh, Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) A.K.M. Shahidur Rahman called on every member of the Bangladesh Police to resume their duties gradually, after ensuring security measures are in place, despite rumors of a strike.
The AIG addressed the media, urging officers to ignore the baseless rumors circulating on social media about a work stoppage. He emphasized the crucial role of the police in maintaining public safety and stated, "The police are friends of the people and work for the public. We cannot imagine a society without the police. Therefore, I request our police members once again to ignore these rumors and return to their duties in a phased manner, ensuring that security arrangements are properly in place."
Commenting on the current critical phase faced by the police force, the AIG urged his fellow officers across Bangladesh to strengthen their security measures progressively. He advised unit commanders to enhance security in their areas and encouraged officers to steadily resume their roles while assessing the evolving situation.
Additionally, the AIG provided an update on the recovery of deceased police officers. He reported that bodies found in various police stations have been collected and brought to Rajarbagh. Efforts are ongoing to retrieve bodies from other stations, with arrangements being made for their swift burial and return to their respective addresses.
