The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society has launched an emergency response following the bus plunge at Rajbari Ferry Ghat, supporting rescue and humanitarian operations in coordination with the Fire Service and other agencies.
A total of 72 Red Crescent Youth (RCY) volunteers from the Rajbari unit were deployed immediately, providing first aid to the injured and assisting in transporting victims to nearby hospitals.
To strengthen the response, the BDRCS Youth and Volunteers Department at the national headquarters sent an additional eight volunteers to the site.
The Restoring Family Links (RFL) Department is closely monitoring the situation and remains ready to assist in tracing and reconnecting missing persons with their families if required.
During the operation, volunteers handled 26 bodies, provided first aid to three injured individuals, and supported information sharing with affected families and authorities.
The response was conducted under the coordination of the director of the Youth and Volunteers Department, along with the secretary and executive members of the Rajbari Red Crescent unit.
Expressing deep condolences, the BDRCS also commended the dedication and humanitarian commitment of its volunteers and staff, reaffirming its continued support for communities during emergencies.
