“If the electricity consumers get technical support and necessary advice, they will feel encouraged to use net metering-based rooftop solar power,” he said while virtually addressing the concluding session of a training programme arranged for 361 officials of different power distribution companies on Wednesday.

Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development (Sreda) organised the programme to educate the local level officials about the new system.

The government recently introduced the net metering system for consumers to encourage them to use rooftop solar power under which they can sell their excess power to the distribution companies for the national grid and adjust their bills with that.
Also, the state minister advised the officials of the power distribution companies to create more awareness among the consumers about the utility and advantage of the net metering-based rooftop solar power.

He also instructed them to set a target for solar power promotion as part of commemorating the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
