She succeeded Md Nazmul Quaunine as the first woman diplomat to assume responsibility of this important post in the UK.
Tasneem reached London on Monday to take on her new assignment, said a PID handout.
Upon arrival, she was greeted at the Heathrow Airport by a senior representative of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the Government of the United Kingdom; and by acting High Commissioner Muhammad Zulqar Nain, the officers and senior staff members of Bangladesh High Commission in London and the Assistant High Commissions in Manchester and Birmingham.
Prior to this appointment, she was the Ambassador of Bangladesh to Thailand.
A career diplomat, Tasneem belongs to the 11th batch of the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) and joined the Foreign Affairs Ministry in 1993.
Throughout her distinguished career, she served in the Bangladesh Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and the Bangladesh High Commission in London in various capacities.
She was also the Director General for the UN and the External Publicity wings of the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Tasneem obtained her Bachelor of Science (Engineering) degree from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) in 1988 and achieved post-graduation degree in Public Policy and Management from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London.
