Members of Students Against Torture (SAT), a student-friendly organisation which stands for the rights of students, held a press conference at the Dhaka University Journalists Association (DUJA) office presenting an annual report on the matter of students facing torture in the dormitories of Dhaka University.
The press conference was held around 3.30 pm which was headed by the founder of SAT Saleh Uddin Sifat.
"At least 11 incidents of torturing students in six DU halls have come to light where 18 students were tortured physically and mentally in the last five months. However, all the cases remained unsolved except for three incidents," press release reads.

Besides five journalists including three campus correspondents were attacked and tortured on the DU campus but the DU authority didn’t take any initiative to punish the attacker.
Saleh Uddin Sifat said that the ruling party's student organization Bangladesh Chhatra League was directly involved in these incidents.
"From now on, SAT will publish semi-annual and annual reports on other human rights violations, such as torture and abuse. We are presenting this report to the university administration so that the university authority investigates every incident of torture and takes proper action against the perpetrators," he added.
