The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Sunday upheld the High Court order that had scrapped the five cases against Prof Muhammad Yunus filed in the Labour court.
The 3-member Appellate Division bench led by Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam passed the order after rejecting the leave-to-appeal petition of the state.
Additional Attorney General Anik R Haque stood for the state while Barrister Mustafizur Rahman Khan represented Dr Yunus.
On October 5, the High Court scrapped five cases against Dr Yunus filed with the Labour court.
Later, a leave-to-appeal petition was filed challenging the court order.

On July 3, 2019, three sacked officials of Grameen Communications filed cases against three people including Dr Yunus.
Later, two persons—Hossain Ahmed and Abdur Gafur— also filed cases against him.
In 2020, Dr Yunus filed a petition before the High Court seeking cancellation of the cases filed against him.
On October 24, the High Court scrapped the five cases filed against him.
