Emphasizing a united call for action to mobilize the youth in society, the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam Haji Haris bin Othman said that the young generation must acknowledge their strength and work together with other stakeholders for the betterment of society.
“The theme of today’s event speaks volumes, as it shows the power of the voices and collective strengths. The slogan, "The Voice of Today For a Sustainable Tomorrow,” is not just a slogan but a call for action. It is a reminder that the voices of the youth matter, their opinions are counted, and their actions can shape the destination.” Ambassador Othman said at the third episode of "Bangladesh Decides: The Youth Speaks" (BDYS) held at Dhaka Gallery on Tuesday.
Addressing the youth audiences, the Brunei Ambassador said, “Let’s remember that the road to progress is not always smooth. Obstacles may come in the way and there can be moments when one can question whether your actions can truly make any difference - in those moments, I want you to remember that the incredible journey Bangladesh, as a country, has undertaken over the years, since its incredible Liberation War in 1971. The nation has overcome numerous challenges and become a beacon of hope, showing remarkable resilience and incredible economic growth and progress.”
“My message to today’s youth is that embrace your power, and don’t just speak - let your actions speak louder. Engage, mobilize, and transform your dream into reality. Remember that every significant change begins with a single step.” Ambassador Haji Haris bin Othman said at the event.
The interactive discussion event is envisioned and conceptualised by the founding CEO and MD of HerNet TV, Alisha Pradhan. Co-funded and supported by the EU Embassy in Bangladesh, the initiative is a strong testament to their commitment to empowering the youth of Bangladesh.
BDYS, a platform hosted by HerNet Foundation, aims to explore and address the multifaceted identity challenges facing the youth in Bangladesh.
It will bring together the brightest minds from 10 prestigious universities, giving them the stage to share their insights, aspirations, and innovative solutions to the challenges confronting an evolving Bangladesh. The first session was held at Dhaka University on November 21.
The event was also telecast live on HerNet TV, an IPTV.
