François Valérian, Chair of the International Board of Directors of Transparency International (TI), will arrive in Dhaka on Tuesday on a three-day visit.
This is his first visit to Bangladesh since being elected Chair of the Berlin-based anti-corruption organisation’s Board in 2023.
He is visiting as a guest of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), the largest and one of the most active chapters in TI’s global anti-corruption coalition, which operates in over 100 countries.
The main purpose of his visit is to exchange experiences at both the global and national levels on preventing corruption and promoting good governance, as well as to gain first-hand insight into TIB’s activities, opportunities and challenges.
During his three-day visit, he will interact with TIB staff, presidents of the 45 volunteer-based Committees of Concerned Citizens (CCC) operating in different regions of the country under TIB’s initiative, and leaders of 65 Youth Engagement and Support (YES) platforms.
He will also engage in discussions with relevant stakeholders from government and non-government sectors, members of civil society and representatives of the media.
A distinguished academic and researcher, Valérian has been actively serving as a member of TI’s International Board since 2019 and has worked on several key committees.
From 2013 to 2023 he was a member of the board of Transparency International France, where he worked on illicit financial flows, political integrity and strategic litigation.
