Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested two alleged drug dealers with 20,000 pieces of yaba pills from the Lalbagh area in the capital.
The arrestees were identified as Yunus (truck driver) and Sajib Ahmed.
Meanwhile, one mobile phone was recovered from them, and a truck used for transporting yaba pills was also seized during the drive.
DB (North Division) Assistant Commissioner Md Imran Hossain Mollah confirmed the matter to the media on Monday.
Based on information that a consignment of yaba pills was about to reach Lalbagh from Cox’s Bazar, a team of DB (North Division) led by Imran conducted the drive and arrested the duo along with the drug consignment when the truck reached the spot in front of Hometech Tower on Azimpur Road at Lalbagh.
During primary interrogation, the arrestees said they had collected the yaba pills from Cox's Bazar and were bringing them to a drug dealer at Azimpur.
A case has been registered against them at Lalbagh Police Station.
