Two children died in separate incidents in Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur district on Thursday, police said.
On Thursday afternoon, 2-year-old Mehezabien, daughter of Mohammad Ullah of Bepari Bari in Haripur village of Hajiganj upazila, suddenly got an egg stuck in her throat while her mother was trying to feed her a boiled egg with paratha.
She was rushed to Hajiganj Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.

In another incident, Md. Rubel Hossain Munshi (1.5 years old), son of Md. Ishraq Hossain Munshi of Munshi Bari in Pirojpur village of the upazila, suddenly fell into a pond near his house while playing with his friends.
After not seeing him for a long time, his relatives began searching for him and found him floating in the pond on Thursday afternoon.
Upon hearing the screams of his grandmother Nurjahan Begum, other family members took him to the Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead upon arrival.

Hajiganj Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Ahmed Tanvir Hasan said that both children had died before being brought to the hospital. Their bodies were later handed over to their families.
Mohammad Mohiuddin Faruk, officer-in-charge (OC) of Hajiganj Police Station, said that two unnatural death cases have been filed in connection with the incidents.
