Two people were trampled to death and two others injured in an attack by a herd of wild elephants at Boirag in Anwara upazila of Chattogram district on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as Abul Kashem alias Md Dulal and Rehana Akter, 38, wife of Md Akter of Guapanchak village of the upazila
Noab Ali, Chairman of Boirag union, said a herd of wild animals entered the locality from the nearby hill around 9 pm on Monday night.
As there was no path for them to move in the locality, the wild elephants tried to drive away people.

At one stage, an elephant attacked Dulal when he came out from his residence, leaving him injured.
He was taken to a local hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Meanwhile, Rehena Akter was killed on the spot when another elephant attacked her while she was standing near her house.
