Underprivileged and meritorious students of Mathurapara Basir Kazi High School in Bogura's Sariakandi upazila have received financial assistance from the school’s alumni association as part of a humanitarian initiative.
The aid was distributed on Wednesday (April 2) at a special event held on the school premises, organised by the Mathurapara Basir Kazi High School Alumni Association.
Established in 2020, the Alumni Association funded the programme through its welfare fund.
Association President Md Mozzafar Rahman, an agriculturist, presided over the event.
Kazi Erfanur Rahman Rentu, a respected member of the school’s founding family, renowned businessman and social worker, attended the event as the chief guest.
Among the special guests were the school’s headmaster Kazi Tofayel Ahmed, and General Secretary of the Alumni Association Md Shahidul Islam. Joint secretary and educationist Md Belal Hossain was also present.
Other notable attendees included Abed Mowla Bahlul Tipu, a meritorious student from the 1979 batch and Senior Manager (Research and Development) at Jiska Pharmaceuticals, Dhaka; Dr Md Mofazzal Hossain, a fellow 1979 batch alumnus and Senior Research Scientist at Boston University, USA; Md Nazrul Islam Dizu, Organising Secretary of the Alumni Association and Director at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden; and industrialist Badiuzzaman.
Under this welfare initiative, financial grants were provided to students studying in different classes of the school as well as those currently enrolled in various public and private universities and medical colleges across the country.
The presence of executive members of the Alumni Association, former students of the school and local dignitaries made the event vibrant and successful.
