Russia’s leading fertiliser producer and exporter Uralchem has donated 30,000 tonnes of potassium fertiliser to Bangladesh to support the country’s agricultural production and food security.
The official handover ceremony was held in Dhaka on Monday in the presence of Agriculture Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Russian Ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Khozin and representatives of Uralchem Group.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Khozin said fertilisers are fundamental to ensuring food security as they help maintain productivity and resilience of agricultural crops. He said the shipment has been provided free of charge and without any conditions.

The Russian envoy said the donation aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2, which aims to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition, and promote sustainable agriculture.
The delivery of the fertilisers was facilitated by the World Food Programme (WFP), while Uralchem Group covered the sea freight and other associated costs.
