A 28-year-old woman was beaten to death allegedly by her husband over a family dispute in Naogaon’s Manda upazila on Saturday, police said.
The victim, Nice Parveen, was the wife of Ekramul Haque of Chauja Uttarpara village and mother of one child.
This incident took place in Chauja Uttarpara village of Tentulia Union of Manda Upazila on Saturday afternoon.
Father of the deceased Kofil Uddin Molla said his daughter was married to Ekramul, son of Yad Ali of Chauja Uttarpara village, about 11 years ago. He said his son-in-law had been torturing his daughter since the start of the marriage for various family matters.
“Due to these disputes, Ekramul and his family members beat my daughter to death,” he alleged.
Mazer Ali, a neighbor of the accused Ekramul Haque, said that there was an altercation between the husband and wife due to delay in cooking lunch and Ekramul started beating his wife.
At one point, Nice lost her consciousness. Later, she died on the way to the hospital.
Mozammel Haque Kazi, officer-in-charge (OC), of Manda Police Station, said that the body of Nice Parveen was recovered from the spot and sent to the Naogaon Sadar Hospital for an autopsy.
A case was filed at Manda Police Station following the complaint lodged by the deceased's father, Kofil Uddin Molla, he added.
The victim's husband accused Ekramul Haque and his elder brother Abdul Malek went into hiding after the incident.
