A woman has been hacked to death allegedly by her husband at Santahar in Bogura’s Adamdighi upazila.
The deceased, Razia Sultana, 37, was a resident of Santahar area.
The incident happened at the Tea Garden Mahalla of Santahar Municipality on Friday night.
She died at the hospital at 9 am on Saturday while undergoing treatment, said Bakul Hossain, sub-inspector of Santahar Police Outpost under Adamdighi Police Station.
Quoting locals, he said the woman’s husband Badiuzzaman had a quarrel with Razia over family issues on Friday night.
At one stage, he started stabbing Razia indiscriminately, Bakul.
Locals rescued her after hearing her screaming and rushed her to a local hospital, from where doctors referred her to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
Rajesh Kumar Chakraborty, officer-in-charge of Adamdighi Police Station, said Badiuzzaman has been absconding since the incident.
They are trying to arrest him, he said, adding that preparations are underway to file a case in this regard.
