A young man was killed in a clash between two groups of people of Ramnagar village in Gangni upazila of Meherpur district on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Hridoy Hossain, son of Shahadat Ali of Chargoal village in the upazila.
Quoting local people, Bani Israil, officer-in-charge of Gangni Police Station, said Mira Islam of Ramnagar village bought a tractor a few days ago.
A portion of a gate of local Eidgah Maidan collapsed after being hit by the tractor at Chargoal village.
As a sequel to the incident, local people of Chargoal village swooped into the Ramnagar village to take the son of Mira, who was driving the tractor on Wednesday morning.

Zannat, a motorbike workshop owner, obstructed them from taking him away and tried to settle the issue.
Both groups engaged into a heated argument, triggering a clash.
Hridoy, a resident of Chargoal village, was killed after being hit by a stick during the clash.
As soon as the news spread, the local people of his village vandalised the shop of Zannat and set it on fire after looting valuables from it.
A number of motorbikes were gutted in the fire.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
A tense situation has been prevailing in the area following the issue.
