For the second day in a row, Delhi saw its coldest night of this winter, with a low temperature of 3 degrees Celsius at Aya Nagar, the city's last village on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road, reports NDTV.

The India Meteorological Department issued the red alert due to cold and thick fog conditions in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), it said.

Last night, the minimum temperature in Delhi was 3.9 degrees Celsius, as a cold wave gripped Delhi-NCR. The IMD reported that the lowest temperature in Lodi Road was 3.4 degrees, 3.6 in Safdarjung, 3.9 in Ridge, and 5.8 in Palam.

Eighteen trains headed for Delhi have been delayed by 1-6 hours owing to weather in Delhi and other areas of the nation. According to ANI, numerous flights were delayed at Delhi's airport owing to poor visibility in the fog, said the report.

According to the IMD, the visibility at Safdarjung Observatory, Delhi's principal meteorological station, was 200 meters at 5:30 am. This morning, visuals showed a heavy layer of fog over numerous regions of the national capital.

The meteorological authority has also issued a yellow notice in the national capital for the next three days, indicating that the cold wave is unlikely to abate, the report said.
