BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has appointed ABM Abdus Sattar, former Secretary of the Bangladesh government, as his private secretary, and AAM Saleh (Saleh Shibly), former General Secretary of Dhaka Reporters’ Unity, as his press secretary.
The appointments were announced on Saturday in a press release signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
“ABM Abdus Sattar has been appointed as private secretary to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, and AAM Saleh (Saleh Shibli) as press secretary,” the release said.
Earlier, Sattar served as private secretary to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, while Saleh Shibli had key press and administrative responsibilities under Tarique Rahman.
Saleh Shibli returned to the country on December 25 on the same flight from the United Kingdom.
Saleh Shibly has worked as a reporter for the news agency UNB, the daily Manabzamin, Bangla Bazar Patrika, and private television channel Channel i.
BNP forms 41-member election steering committee
During the tenure of the four-party alliance government, he served as First Secretary (Press) at the Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata.
Both Abdus Sattar and Saleh Shibly have become members of the BNP’s central election steering committee for the 13th parliamentary election.
