AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju on Friday said an alliance may be formed with the new political parties that emerged from the July Uprising, ahead of the upcoming national election.
He made the remark while addressing a views-exchange meeting with journalists organised by the Jhenaidah district unit of the AB Party.
Manju said discussions regarding the formation of such an alliance are underway, although it has not been finalised yet.
“We expect to make a clear announcement soon,” he added.
Recalling the victory of people’s power, he cited the anti-autocracy movement of the 1990s and the sacrifices of Shaheed Dr Milon and Noor Hossain.

“The people of the country overthrew authoritarian Sheikh Hasina in July and opened a new path for building a new Bangladesh. Yet the aspirations of that uprising remain unfulfilled,” he said.
He warned that public expectations from the interim government risk going unmet due to ongoing instability.
“The ruins of the economy, corruption, and fear created during the Awami League regime must be addressed. People rejected the Awami League because of enforced disappearances, killings, and the looting of the economy to build Begum Para abroad,” he added.
Advocate Matiar Rahman, convener of the district unit, presided over the event, which was conducted by central Jubo Party member-secretary and Jhenaidah-2 nominee Hadiuzzaman Khokon.
Khulna divisional organising secretary Yaminur Rahman, Jhenaidah-1 candidate Advocate Matiar Rahman, and Jhenaidah-3 candidate Mufti Mujahidul Islam, among others, attended the programme.
