“Heroic freedom fighter Sadeque Hossain Khoka also earned wider acceptance regardless of the party with his people-oriented activities,” he said.
Speaking at a discussion-cum-doa mahfil, the BNP leader said, “From a guerrilla freedom fighter, Khoka became a popular public leader due to his commitment and sincerity to the Liberation War and establish the rights of people.”
As a valiant freedom fighter, Nazrul said, Khoka's commitment to the country and the nation was unquestionable.
Dhaka south city unit BNP arranged the programme on the ground floor of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office, marking the party’s late leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka’s 1st death anniversary.
Nazrul, a BNP standing committee member, said Khoka was a very skilled organiser as he made outstanding contributions towards strengthening BNP’s organisational capacity.
“He (Khoka) was such a popular and powerful organiser that he defeated Awami League President Sheikh Hasina by a huge margin in Dhaka's Sutrapur-Katowali constituency in the 1991 election despite being a fresh candidate,” he observed.
The BNP leader said Khoka was a hard-working and dedicated politician. “He always worked for the welfare of people. Our party will always remember with respect his contributions towards making BNP a strong and the largest party in the country.”
