BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday said an interim government will be formed 'very quickly' after dissolving Parliament which will arrange an elections in three months.
He made the remarks after a meeting with President Sahabuddin Ahmed at Bangabhaban .
The BNP leader also said that BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will be released 'without any delay'.
A few hours after Sheikh Hasina left the country ending her 16-year rule, Fakhrul and other opposition leaders, a three-member team of student leaders and the chiefs of the three services went to Bangabhaban and discuss the evolving situation and its way out.
After the meeting, Fakhrul talked to reporters about the outcome.
On behalf of BNP, he thanked the students and the mass people for making the movement a success.
He said they discussed how to manage the country in a smooth way following the fall of Sheikh Hasina government.
About the major decisions, he said the parliament will be dissolved, an interim government will be formed and that government will arrange an election within three months, Begum Khaleda Zia will be release by two days.
Besides, Fakhrul said the students, common people and the political leaders arrested in connection with the movement will be released and the false cases filed against them will be withdrawn.
In response to another question, the BNP Secretary General said that the President will address the nation with an outline of the new government and the future plans.
