Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Sunday announced the postponement of its previously scheduled grand rally slated for January 3.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by the party’s Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar.
Parwar said the decision was taken as the admission tests for first-year undergraduate (honours) programmes for the 2025–26 academic session at nine agricultural and agriculture-based universities across the country are scheduled to be held on January 3.
“In view of the nationwide admission tests at nine agricultural and agriculture-oriented universities on January 3, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has decided to postpone its previously announced grand rally on that day,” the statement said.
The party, however, did not announce a new date for the rally in the statement.
Earlier, on Saturday (December 27), Jamaat’s Central Executive Council, at a meeting, had called on party leaders and activists to ensure the success of the January 3 grand rally, which was planned to be held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
