The three-day Sheikh Kamal 38th National Junior Athletics Championship '2024, concluded today (Sunday) at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here featuring seven new records
Two more new national records were made on the 3nd and final day (Sunday) to raise the total record tally to seven including five records on the first two days.
National Junior Athletics: Two more new national records created on 2nd day, Saturday
Azmi Khatoon of BKSP made the day's first record by clinching the gold medal of the 400-metre run with a timing of 58.58 seconds to better the event's previous mark of 1:00.00 seconds made by China Khatun of Rajbari DSA.
Tamim Hossain, also from BKSP, made the day's other record by winning the triple jump gold medal covering a distance of 14.56 metres to improve the event's old record of 14.41 metres made by Misbah Ahmed of BKSP.

Earlier, five new national records were created in the first two days--three records on the first day (Friday) and two records on the 2nd day (Saturday)
On the first day (Friday), Sumaiya Akter of BKSP made the meet's first record in the 100-metre sprint with timing of 12. 49 seconds, Mohammad Shawon of Kurigram set the 2nd national mark in the1500-metre run with a timing of 5:14.12 seconds while Sharmin Akter of BKSP made the 3rd record in the shot put covering a distance of 12.10 metres.
On the 2nd day (Saturday), Tasnia Hossain of BKSP made new record in the 100 -metre hurdles with a timing of 15.74 seconds to better the event's prevous record of 16.41 seconds, made by Roksana Begum of Noakhali in 2019.
World Athletics Day, World Kids Athletics Day observed in Bangladesh
Smriti Akter of Kishoreganj DSA created the Saturday's 2nd record in the 800- metre run with a timing of 2:27.55 seconds to improve the event's old marks of 2:27.86 seconds made by China Khatun of Rajbari DSA in 2002.
After the three-day meet on Sunday, BKSP clinched top slot in the medal table of the meet securing 26 gold, 12 silver and nine bronze medals.
Noakhali DSA finished distant seconds in the meet collecting four gold, five silver and six bronze medals while Kishoreganj DSA became 3rd with three gold, one silver and three bronze medal.
A total of 392 athletes from 45 teams took part in 42 events in four groups of the three-day meet.
