A total of 200 young shuttlers from 60 schools will compete in four events -- boys singles, boys doubles, girls singles and girls doubles. After a long break of about 20-years, the three-day tournament will focus on hunting the talented shuttlers from all over the country.
Secretary of the tournament organizing committee Ohiduzzaman Razu made the announcement in a press conference at the BBF conference room here on Sunday.
“After a long break of about 20 years, the federation is organizing the national school badminton competition with the help of Sheikh Russel Jatiyo Shishu Kishore Parishad with a view to hunt talented players and I hope the competition will help us to bring out the talented shuttlers,” said Razu.
“We will initially select 20 young shuttlers from 200 participants for a three-month training camp under BBF. Some 20-30 players are taking part in the tournament from outside of Dhaka and the federation will provide them accommodation facilities,” he added.
The tournament organizing committee has earmarked a budget of Tk 10 lakh.
