An ICT freelancing youth conference was held in Kushtia, with the aim of boosting the potential ICT freelancing sector in the district.
The event took place under a joint project – Local Economic Development – of SwissContact and the Local Government Division (LGD), funded by the governments of Bangladesh and Switzerland.
A total of 350 selected university-level students, who are interested in freelancing, participated in the two-day freelancing conference at Shilpakala Academy in Kushtia recently, said a media release on Wednesday.
The conference featured prominent figures from the ICT sector and local administration, including Sharmin Akhter, deputy commissioner (acting) of Kushtia, as the chief guest.
Among others, Mizanur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner (ICT and education), and Abu Jor Rahman, district ICT officer, attended the program as the special guests, while Markus Ehmann, team leader of LED project, was in the chair.
Throughout the conference, 12 eminent speakers delivered crucial insights in 8 orientation sessions.
A panel discussion session was held on the first day of the conference, in addition to conventional discussions, where representatives from district administration, ICT division, Kushtia Freelancing Community, local ICT hardware and local ICT training institutes were present.
