The Grand Mosque in Mecca is cleaned in just 35 minutes, ensuring a seamless experience for pilgrims.
According to the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, a team of 3,500 male and female workers operates continuously to maintain cleanliness at Islam’s holiest site.
Supporting their efforts are 12 specialized washing machines and 679 advanced cleaning devices.

To manage waste efficiently, over 3,000 containers are strategically placed inside and around the mosque.
On a regular day, approximately 70 tonnes of waste are collected, increasing to 100 tonnes during peak seasons. The cleaning process strictly follows environmental safety standards, with the authority prioritizing sustainability through the use of eco-friendly cleaning materials.
Operating 24/7, the cleaning efforts do not disrupt the movement of worshippers, ensuring a clean and spiritually uplifting environment for pilgrims as they perform their rituals with ease.
