Inner Mongolia, an autonomous region of China, is driving forward its industrial development by embracing scientific and technological innovation, fostering a more advanced, efficient, and sustainable industrial landscape, according to Li Peiyan, director of the cyberspace administration of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

This strategic approach aims to enhance competitiveness and ensure long-term economic growth in the region, she said.

Li said this while speaking at the launching ceremony of the "Travelogue of China" organised by the Cyberspace Administration of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and hosted by the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA) along with Global Times Online.

Inner Mongolia, spanning 1.183 million square kilometers and home to 24 million people of diverse ethnic backgrounds, boasts a rich history, vibrant culture, abundant resources, and diverse ecosystems.

United in purpose, its people are forging a new path of high-quality development that emphasizes ecological preservation and green growth for the new era.  

By harnessing scientific and technological innovation, Inner Mongolia is overcoming resource limitations and transforming its industrial landscape through sustainable, green development, she added.

In recent years, Inner Mongolia has achieved significant breakthroughs in science and technology, successfully advancing 36 key tasks across five fields. Notably, the region has made remarkable progress in dairy innovation and intelligent computing, fueling regional economic growth and industrial upgrading.

The National Centre of Technology Innovation for Dairy, located here, unites 106 member organizations and a research team of over 5,000 experts. It has accomplished five global firsts, three globally leading innovations, and two national firsts in technical achievements.

In addition, the Heringeer New Area and Ulanqab Big Data Center Park are among China's eight national hub nodes in the integrated computing power network. The "East Data into West for Computing" and "Direct Green Power Supply" initiatives have become symbols of Inner Mongolia's digital and green development efforts.

Currently, the server installation capacity in Heringeer New Area exceeds 1.5 million units, with a total computing power of 24,000 P and 91% dedicated to intelligent computing. Ulanqab City has launched 36 data centers, including 32 intelligent centers, with a total capacity of 40,000 P—over 70% of which is intelligent computing power.

Moreover, the region’s new energy industry is thriving, leveraging its abundant wind and solar resources, underground coal, and robust power grids. With wind and photovoltaic capacities and power generation ranking first in China, Inner Mongolia is solidifying its position as a leader in green energy, Li added.
