A case under the Cyber Security Act has been filed accusing 11 people of making derogatory remarks about important figures of the government including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Facebook.
Muhibur Rahman Jewel Tareque, Sunamganj District Chhatra League's deputy literature and publication secretary, filed the case with the court of Sylhet Cyber Tribunal Judge Md Monir Kamal on Tuesday(June 4).
Taking the allegations into cognisance, the court ordered Sunamganj District Special Superintendent of Police CID to submit the investigation report by August 5.
The accused are - Mo Faizur Rahman, 35, Mo Mahin Khan, 38, Ahmad Shahid Tapadar, 30, Zahid Hossain, 24, Ashraful Islam Noble, 23, Md Oliur Rahman, 56, Shahid Ahmad, 25, Md Saiful Islam, 34, Md Fawzil Azim, 33, Mohammad Imtiaz Sharif, 34 and Ishaq Ahmad, 24.
Muhibur Rahman Jewel Tareque, the plaintiff in the case, said that all the accused are involved in BNP and Jamaat Shibir's politics.
For a long time, they have been distorting the photos of important people of the state, including the Prime Minister, and insulting them through social media.
"When I protested, they threatened to kill me. So, I moved to the court," Jewel said.
