Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on Friday claimed to have detained a truck driver and his assistance from Cox's Bazar's Ramu upazila on charges of smuggling crystal meth weighing around 18kg.
The detainees are: Truck driver Md. Kefayat Ullah, 28, son of late Azizur Rahman of Noakhali Para in Teknaf and helper Harun, 23, son of Abu Bakar of Maheshkhali Para of the same area, said a press release.
Acting on a tip-off, Ramu BGB-30 battalion conducted a drive at Moricha check post and arrested them.
Around 18.02kg of crystal meth, Tk 3,36,020 cash, 3 bottles of alcohol, 3 knives and 3 mobile phones were seized from their possession.
“The detainees were later handed over to Ramu police station,” it added.
