Twenty-three students received awards for reading books from a library in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria District.
They were awarded attending the library for the most number of days in August.
Nasirnagar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Muhammad Imranul Haque Bhuiyan handed over the award to the students on Thursday afternoon.
The awardees are Sadia Bushra, Hafsa Begum, Nusrat Sakura, Sumaiya Afrin, Mahima Roy, Srishti Roy, Lamiya Akhtar, Adrita, Nusrat Jahan Soha, Shah Samia, Ispa Akhtar, Israt Sania Akhtar, Snehal Gop Panna, Tanmoy Sarkar, Soumik Roy, Gagandeep Kundu, Prithi Das Surya, Abdul Gaffar Mahudi, Sauvik Roy, Arian Islam Sohan, Omar Faruq, Saptadeep Kundu, and Qari Md Abdullah.
UNO Imranul Haque said that there is no public library in many upazilas of Bangladesh.
The people of Nasirnagar are fortunate to have a public library in the upazila. Initially, there were no readers at all.
"We took this initiative from February to increase readership," he added.
