Bangladesh’s Readymade Garment (RMG) sector has reached another milestone in global green industrialisation with five more factories receiving the prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
With these new additions, the total number of LEED-certified green factories in the country has risen to 280, further solidifying Bangladesh's position as a leader in sustainable and eco-friendly manufacturing.
According to the latest data, the country now boasts 118 Platinum-rated and 143 Gold-rated factories.
Notably, 52 of the world’s top 100 highest-scoring LEED factories are now located in Bangladesh, a clear testament to the sector's commitment to environmental excellence.
Among the newly certified units, Meher Garments Limited and Winter Dress Limited achieved the 'Platinum' category with impressive scores of 89 and 85, respectively.
Three other factories earned the 'Gold' certification: Surma Garments Limited (71 score), Epic Garments Manufacturing Co. Ltd. (Unit-7) (67 score), and Nafa Apparels Ltd. (Unit-02) (65 score).
