The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to interrogate 12 former top officials, including two former ACC commissioners, ex-secretaries, and judges, over alleged unlawful allocation of apartments in an under-construction building in the capital’s Dhanmondi area.
Assistant Director Al Amin, team leader of the ACC investigation team, told UNB on Thursday that letters have been sent to their present and permanent addresses, asking them to appear for questioning in three phases on September 17, 18, and 21.
According to the Housing and Public Works Ministry, the flat allocations were canceled on July 8, as influence-peddling and policy violations were proven in the allocation process.
Those whose allocations were canceled are former ACC Commissioner & retired Justice Md. Zohurul Haque (4,105.05 sq ft), former Senior Secretary Md. Eunusur Rahman (2,315.83 sq ft), former Senior Secretary & ACC Commissioner Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan (4,308.68 sq ft), former Secretary M.A. Kader Sarkar (2,049.13 sq ft), former Senior Secretary Dr. M. Aslam Alam (2,049.13 sq ft), former Secretary Akhtari Momtaz (2,049.13 sq ft), former Secretary Md. Sirajul Haque Khan (2,315.83 sq ft), former Senior District and Sessions Judge Md. Manjurul Basid (2,315.83 sq ft) , former Registrar General & Senior District Judge Syed Aminul Islam (2,049.13 sq ft), former DG of Secondary & Higher Education Prof. Nehal Ahmed (2,049.13 sq ft), former Senior Secretary & Election Commissioner Md. The flats were part of the “Residential Flat Construction in Abandoned Houses at Dhanmondi and Mohammadpur (Dhanmondi Housing – Phase 1)” project, located at Road 13 (New 6/A), House 711 (New 63), Dhanmondi Residential Area.
The allocations were scrapped following recommendations of an internal probe and the 274th board meeting of the housing authority.
