Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud on Tuesday said the current state of defence cooperation between Bangladesh and Türkiye is "very promising" and suggested that both sides should "explore more areas" of defence cooperation.
He expressed satisfaction at the recent increase of bilateral trade and stressed on working towards further increasing the volume of bilateral trade.
Ambassador of Türkiye to Bangladesh Ramis Sen met the Foreign Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He thanked Ankara for the solidarity and support at ICJ on the Rohingya issue and expressed his hope that Türkiye will continue to stand by Bangladesh on the issue of Rohingyas in all international forums.
The Foreign Minister assured the Ambassador will receive full cooperation during his tenure and expressed hope that bilateral relations between the two countries will further strengthen in coming days.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction over the current state of relations and celebration of 50 years of the establishment of our diplomatic relations with Türkiye, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He thanked the President and Foreign Minister of Türkiye for their congratulatory letters sent to the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Bangladesh after elections in January 2024.
The Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of holding regular political consultations and expressed hope that the 4th round of Foreign Office Consultations (FOC) between the two countries will be held soon.
