The global halal food market is expected to take a big step forward soon attributable to the diverse tastes and interests of the Muslim population.

Bangladesh can tap into this demand with its halal products. The country holds the promise of being a global leader in halal industry.
Commerce Secretary Dr Md Zafar Uddin said this on Wednesday at the webinar “Rise of Geo-economics and Bangladesh” organised by the Economic Reporters’ Forum, Research Policy Integration for Development, and Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.

The world economy is now slowly pivoting on Asia and the continent will be the next economic powerhouse, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said at the programme.
“So, Bangladesh has to seize this opportunity and the country’s diplomacy needs to be more focused on economic issues.”

The finance, commerce and planning ministries need to work on a single platform to make import and export easier for the entrepreneurs, the minister said.
