Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned language movement hero and cultural icon Ahmad Rafiq.
In a statement, BSA Director General Sheikh Rezauddin Ahmed Stalin said Ahmad Rafiq played an active and courageous role in the historic Language Movement and dedicated his life to the advancement of the Bengali language, literature, and culture.
“Ahmad Rafiq's life and work will inspire future generations. His contribution to language and culture will be written in golden letters in the nation's history,” he added.
He further said that Rafiq was a fearless soldier of the Language Movement who spent his life upholding the dignity of the Bengali mother tongue and promoting literary and cultural development.
“The Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy believes that Ahmad Rafiq’s wisdom, writings, and thoughts will remain unforgettable in the cultural progress of the nation,” the statement added.
BSA prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and extended heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family, friends, and admirers.
