A 60-year-old bank employee was killed after a rickshaw carrying him was crushed between a bus and a truck at Paltan intersection in Dhaka early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Zakir Hossain, an executive officer of Mercantile Bank and hailing from Feni’s Dagonbhuiyan upazila.
Arif Ullah, sub-inspector of Paltan Police Station, said the battery-run auto-rickshaw got smashed after being squeezed between an onion-laden truck from Satkhira and a bus of ‘Unique Paribahan’ around 5:30 am, leaving the rickshaw passenger Zakir injured.
Later, he was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead around 6:05 am.
The rickshaw puller was injured and he is now undergoing treatment at the hospital.
