Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal confirmed the government's active response to the armed attacks and bank robberies in Bandarban's Ruma and Thanchi areas, attributing the violence to the militant group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF).
Speaking to reporters at his ministry office in Dhaka on Wednesday, the minister detailed the assailants' tactics, including the disruption of local electricity to facilitate their operations.
During the incidents, members of KNF targeted police constables, bank guards, and Ansar members, exploiting the moment when police were engaged in Taraweeh prayers to abduct a bank manager and breach a bank vault, though the exact amount of money stolen remains uncertain.

The Home Minister emphasizing that law enforcement operations are ongoing to gather more information and address the situation. He mentioned the potential involvement of the Army to support police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) efforts if necessary.
In addition to addressing the militant threat, the Home Minister discussed ongoing discussions with India aimed at halting border killings. He acknowledged that citizens engaged in illegal activities from both nations often fall victim to such incidents. The discussions include the possibility of employing non-lethal means to prevent casualties.
