Students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) staged a silent protest by tying red fabric over their eyes, condemning recent attacks on campus allegedly carried out by unidentified outsiders.
The procession, titled ‘Red March for Justice’, started from the university’s Amtala at 5:30 pm on Thursday and ended at the Convocation Square. Hundreds of students participated in the march.
Earlier in the afternoon, students from various halls began gathering at Amtala. They tied red pieces of fabric around their heads and began a silent procession from the corridor adjacent to the central library. After circling the corridor, they reached Convocation Square and held a sit-in protest. During the sit-in, they removed the red bandanas from their heads and tied it over their eyes.
Shibli Sadi, a student of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry who participated in the programme, said the protest was symbolic— "a red light" to the administration saying a line had been crossed.
“We have not yet received justice for the attack on us by outsiders. We hope the administration will take action very soon in this regard,” he said.
He added that, if necessary, the attackers would be identified with the help of the local administration.

Shibli expressed hope that the administration would act swiftly to prevent such incidents in the future.
“We will have another meeting with the administration tomorrow. I hope we will find a quick solution to the ongoing problem,” he said.
