Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, in association with bKash, has expanded its book reading programme to Mymensingh and Sherpur districts to encourage students to develop a reading habit.
This year, the programme will distribute 40,000 books to 330 educational institutions across the country, said a press release issued on Thursday.
To foster enlightened human beings, books were presented to students from several schools in Mymensingh and Sherpur.
The schools included Collectorate School & College Mymensingh, Vidyamayee Govt. Girls' High School, Mukul Niketon High School, Police Lines High School, Nasirabad Collegiate School, Mymensingh High School, and Mymensingh Zilla School in Mymensingh, along with Sherpur Collectorate School & College, Sherpur Government Girls' High School, Uttara Adarsha High School, Gobinda Kumar Pilot High School, Nabarun Bidyaniketon, and Police Lines High School in Sherpur.

This initiative was conducted through two separate events held at the District Shilpakala Academy in Mymensingh and Sherpur.
The programme is a joint initiative between bKash, the country's largest mobile financial service provider and Bishwo Shahitto Kendro, an organisation dedicated to building enlightened human beings.
At the events held in their respective districts, the books were handed over to students by Bipin Chandra Biswas, Deputy Director of Local Government in Mymensingh and Sheikh Jahid Hasan Prince, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Sherpur.
Humayun Kabir, EVP and Head of Regulatory and Corporate Affairs of bKash and Shamim Al Mamun, Director of Bishwo Shahitto Kendro were also present there.
To make the book-reading programme more popular, a quiz competition on contemporary topics was organised for students in grades 6 to 10.
At the end of the event, prizes were handed over to 80 students as winners of the quiz.
With the aim to inculcate book reading habits among the students, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro has been conducting this Nationwide Enrichment programme. This initiative will help the students to shape their minds as enlightened human beings.
