As Cyclone Remal looms on the horizon, the Cox's Bazar District Administration is scrambling to implement last-minute measures to protect its residents.
The district administration has implemented a series of proactive measures, including the cancellation of all leave for government employees and the establishment of an emergency control room.
The district has readied 638 shelters to accommodate people and mobilized 8,600 volunteers and 2,200 members of the Cyclone Preparedness Programme (CPP) for emergency response activities. Volunteers are active across seven upazilas, with 1,300 stationed in Cox's Bazar city alone. Additionally, 880 Red Crescent volunteers are on standby.

District Commissioner Muhammad Shahin Imran has instructed officials to remain at their posts and maintain clean shelters. He urged for cooperation from the hotel and motel zones during the cyclone.
The Roads and Highways Department and the Fire Service have been directed to prepare for emergency rescues, and local councils have been tasked with relocating residents from landslide-prone areas. The municipality has also been instructed to arrange food and cooked meals.
Superintendent of Police Mahfuzul Islam highlighted efforts to raise awareness among vulnerable communities and ensure they are brought to safety in shelters. He also advised keeping rechargeable lights ready for nighttime use.
The district administration has stockpiled 486 metric tons of rice, Tk275,000 in cash, 23 bundles of corrugated iron sheets, and TK69,000 for housing grants, although there is currently no stock of dry food.
